International: 1) Clothing campaign: The clothing campaign launched in 2006 was our first project to meet the urgent needs of orphaned and displaced children of the AIDS/HIV epidemic in East and Southern Africa where the onset of the epidemic and the aftermath of its ravages are most acute. For a Needs Assessment Report on the severity of HIV/AIDS problems in the region please click here. CHREE engaged in a bold campaign to collect surplus new and used clothing materials available in many homes in North America and Europe for the benefit of or use by needy people in the poorest countries. After the first delivery to Tanzania in May 2007, this campaign is now being evaluated to reflect on the experience gained and challenges encountered in the pilot phase.
The objective of this campaign is to set up an organizational framework based on the successful completion of the pilot, for soliciting and collecting new and used clothing for children between the ages of 3 and 20 years old starting from our neighborhoods and beyond, on a continuous basis, and transporting them to selected charities and church organizations as a mechanism for fund raising.
A closely related operation is the fund raising activities including solicitation for financial donations for paying associated expenses for: a) land transportation, consolidation, packing, port services and ocean freight; b) transit storage; c) administrative expenses to supervise the delivery and marketing; and d) advertising for donations in targeted local news bulletins and other media. It is a business approach that offers an alternative to and suppliments fund solicitations for the charitable cause.
Used clothing has become a thriving business in most of the poor countries of the world especially in Africa. Our clothing program is sustainable, and has the potential of generating much needed income for the recipient orphanages.

CHREE believes that literacy is a basic universal human right. Children who grow up without the ability to read and write and indispensable numeric skills are devoid of basic tools for exercising their inalienable rights. They tend to end up in child labor bondage and regress into destitution. CHREE's mission is to support efforts of charitable organizations which offer tuition support to students who would otherwise drop out from school due to poverty. CHREE also supports charities and church organizations which have the capacity to provide vocational training to children from marginalized communities. This effort will take into account relevant occupational skills in the recipient countries, and solicit donations for books and materials from educational institutions and making arrangements for delivery to selected vocational training establishments. The long term goal is to establish information and communication kiosks at community level where every literate person will have access to the internet and other educational media irrespective of his or her socioeconomic standing.

Skills For The Informal Sectors |
The informal sector of the economies of poor nations where the majority of the labor force strives to eke out a livelihood is beset with serious problems. For many, the primary problem is a lack of employment in the formal sector and dearth of financial management skills. The Corporation assists in providing or supporting training programs which empower these workers with appropriate working skills. It helps them through needs assessments and training in popular trades such as carpentry, auto and computer mechanic, electrical and appliannce repair journeymen, home economics and simple accounting systems and basic profit and loss analysis. They will need these skills as most of the work force end up being self employed.
